Glorious is exactly what Goodwood is. Twelve Pattern Races including two Group 1’s sets this meeting apart. Have a look at the post outlining whats on each day.
The highlight of day one is this Group 2 over 7 F. It brings together the July Cup form in the shape of Libanno, Dalgar and Delegator. It also tests the what looked liked a good Jean Prat in the shape of Strong Suit. His third to Mutual Trust and Zoffany confirmed the wind operation in spring he had was a successful one.
Red Jazz represents Barry Hills whose team were in excellent form over the weekend. Six of seven were first or second with three winning. Thats hard to argue with and this colt has won at this level when taking the Challenge Stakes at Newmarket last year.
Of the Clive Cox pair Balthazaar’s Gift is probably more gifted than Beacon Lodge and is also a winner at this level twice. Majestic Myles won a listed contest prior to failing in the Jersey and connections have been tempted to step him up again. Dalgar hasn’t shone since moving to Andrew Balding while Doncaster Rover is well exposed and is unlikely at this level.
The answer to this one comes down to whether those stepping up in trip from the July Cup or Strong Suit coming back in trip will be suited best by 7 F.
There is every probability Delegator will benefit from the step up but the form of Mutual Trust gives a better Strong Suit.
