The Oaks

Ylang Ylang failed at the Curragh last year in the Moyglare when going off 6/5 favourite. She was ridden forward and fell away quickly at the 2 furlong pole, eased down she finished last. At Newmarket in the Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket in October she was ridden with more patience and coming off the pace she finished strongly to win with authority.

Back at Newmarket this year for the 1000 Guineas she lacked the gears to win over a mile but was still only beaten a length. Everything about the run suggested a step up in trip would be to her benefit.

As regards Group 1 form there is little else to go on and her experience at top level should carry the day.

Recommendation

Ylang Ylang 6/4 win
