Prince Of Wales’s Stakes (G 1)
June 15, 2021
A cracker.
Love has been off since York last year. She was unbeaten in three runs taking the 1000 Guineas, The Oaks, and Yorkshire Oaks improving as the season progressed it was no surprise she became the ante-post favourite for the Arc, as we know she never made it to Paris, she’ll have to overcome a long absence.
Lord North was a very impressive winner of this last year, then in three subsequent runs he didn’t trouble the judge. This year he came back in March to take the Dubai Turf in super style despite bursting a blood vessel in the race.
Armory was a good two-year-old whose confidence was battered by a 9L defeat by Pintabuo in the National Stakes in his juvenile year. He’s coming good, we saw a hint of it in the Irish Champion Stakes last autumn when he ran third to Magical and at Chester he looked the part taking the Huxley Stakes by 3L from Sangarius.
Hard to see the others, Audayra, My Oberon or Desert Encounter getting into the mix with the top three likely to fight it out, this could be the race of the week.
We have to take her fitness on trust, not an issue on her reappearance last year when she demolished the Guineas field, with her class, it’s all about Love.
Recommendation
Love 6/4 win
