Peaceful and Siskin the 1000 and 2000 Irish Guineas winners both compete tonight at the Breeders Cup at Keeneland.
Peaceful runs in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf for Aidan O’Brien and Ballydoyle. She hasn’t won since beating Fancy Blue at the Curragh, Fancy Blue and Alpine Star narrowly beat her in the Prix de Diane at Chantilly and when put away for an Autumn campaign she was beaten in the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on day one of the Irish Champions Weekend by Champers Elysees. She then hated the ground next time out when last in the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket. She can bounce back.

Jessica Harrington sends Cayenne Pepper who got back to winning ways in impressive style on day two of Irish Champions Weekend at the Curragh in the Blandford Stakes. Previously she’d knocked up a trio of seconds to Tarnawa in the Give Thanks at Cork, Even So in the Irish Oaks and Magical in the Pretty Polly.

Siskin’s connections will hope to see him go out with a bang in the Breeders Cup Turf Mile.
The Irish Guineas winner will get his ground and should be suited by the hustle and bustle that will come with a fast run mile. The key will be the break, hopefully the wider stalls will ease the entry for a what has to be a quick exit. Drawn four, Colin won’t want to get trapped and shuffled back on the rail, better to gain the advantage of the low draw kick him on and find the box seat, from there he’ll still have the pace to kick for home.
Circus Maximus the Queen Anne winner, he finished in front of Siskin in the Sussex Stakes and Lope Y Fernandez whose best run was when second to Pinatubo in the Jean Prat represent Ballydoyle. Both have seen their form drift as the season has progressed.
They’ll all have their work cut out to beat Uni winner here at Keeneland in the First Lady Stakes last time out.

In the Breeders Cup Turf a strong Irish challenge is led by Magical.
Two years ago she was involved in a great battle down the Churchill Downs straight with Enable going down ¾L in this race. This year she was at her best again in the Irish Champion Stakes when easily accounting for Ghaiyyath then in the English Champion Stakes, she found the ground blunting her speed.

Mogul will also run. Having missed the Arc he comes off a win in the Grand Prix de Paris in early September from In Swoop who went on to give the form a serious boost when running second to Scottass in the Arc.

Dermot Welds Tarnawa also contests. On the same day Mogul won in Paris, she won the other G1 on the card at Lonchamp, the Prix Vermille, highlighting the quality of her previous Give Thanks win at Cork, she then followed up on Arc day to win the Prix de l’Opera.
Of the American horses in the race Channel Maker is a big price coming off the back of a brace of wins in the Sword Dancer at Saratoga and Joe Hirsh Turf at Belmont.

In Breeders Cup Dirt Mile we also like War Of Will, a winner of the Maker’s Mile here at Keeneland before running third last time out in the Woodbine Mile.
