This could be the race of the week.
The three Guineas winners, Notable Speech, Rosallion, and Metropolitan all contest.
Henry Longfellow winning the G1 National Stakes at the Curragh last year
Notable Speech was a very good winner at Newmarket when he’d a 1½L to spare over Rosallion with Hateem a further 1¾L behind in third. The form was franked at the Curragh when Rosallion overcame his stable companion Haatem by a head.
Metropolitan won in Paris in a bunch finish beating Dancing Gemini a ½L with Alcantor a short neck back in third. The French form has been dented since with Daning Gemini well beaten in the Derby and Alcantor also well beaten in the French equivalent.
The English/Irish form is the stronger however the Paris race may well still produce the winner here. Henry Longfellow went off favourite at Lonchamp but under Ryan Moore he never found racing room and with his chance gone Ryan gave him an easy introduction on his seasonal debut. He was exciting last year when deputising after the late withdrawal of City Of Troy in the National Stakes when a convincing 5L winner. He can come out on top here from Rosallion and Notable Speech.
